Every Mother Counts
Founded by Christy Turlington Burns, Every Mother Counts is an advocacy and mobilization campaign to increase support for maternal and child health. As an organization, Every Mother Counts wants to help people better understand the challenges women face while encouraging them to take action to improve the lives of women worldwide.With these spots, we used the stories of the women featured in Christy’s documentary “No Woman No Cry.” In this documentary, we learned that hundreds of thousands of women die each year from pregnancy and childbirth-related causes, but that 90% of these deaths could be avoided.
Christy did the voice-over for Mothers, which aired during Oprah on Mother’s Day and appeared on the Times Square Jumbo Tron. It was surprising to find someone as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She sent us handwritten thank-you notes for working on the project. I didn’t get to finish Choices. There is a scratch VO on that spot.
